About Niki Protopapa
Niki Protopapa was born in Athens, where she also completed her education. Her family originates from Aperi, Karpathos.
Niki studied interior design and free drawing at the Vakalo School in Athens. She was married and lived in Kenya with her family before moving to Sudan with her husband, and later returned to Greece.
A world traveler, Niki has studied in numerous countries. Following the completion of her degree in Greece, she continued her studies by attending free-style design at the Royal School of Art in London. She later studied jewelry design with the renowned teacher Nikos Nikolaidis in Greece. Additionally, she studied freelance design at Saint Martins College of Art in London. She continued free-style drawing classes in Italy with German teacher Petra Meyer. In Brussels, she began studying ceramics, which she truly loved.
She has participated in several group painting exhibitions and has had five exhibitions for gold jewelry. She has also had two solo exhibitions.
In 2002, she opened the contemporary art gallery Millefiori Art Space in Kolonaki. At the same time, she started attending the Center for the Study of Modern Ceramics in Athens and then the school of Menandros Papadopoulos, where she took ceramics classes. She has exhibited her ceramics in her own space for several years.
Since 2020, she has been working primarily with ceramics and has exhibited her work at various locations, including the Athens Concert Hall, the Artwork gallery in Kifisia, the Skoufa gallery in Kolonaki, TWO's in Paros, and most recently at the City Museum of Athens, as part of a group exhibition.
Niki's bold ceramic works celebrate both Greece and Africa. Using deft brushstrokes and vibrant colors, she combines palm trees, landscapes, and wild animals of the savannah with traditional Greek patterns, symbols, and objects.

Γεννήθηκα στην Αθήνα, όπου τελείωσα και το σχολείο. Η καταγωγή μου είναι από το Απέρι της Καρπάθου.
Σπούδασα διακόσμηση και ελεύθερο σχέδιο στη Σχολή Βακαλό.
Παντρεύτηκα και έζησα στην Κένυα με την οικογένεια μου.
Παρακολούθησα μαθήματα ελεύθερου σχεδίου στο Royal School of Art στο Λονδίνο.
Ήρθα στην Ελλάδα και σπούδασα κόσμημα με τον σπουδαίο δάσκαλο Νίκο Νικολαΐδη.
Έφυγα στο Σουδάν με τον σύζυγό μου και σπούδασα ελεύθερο σχέδιο στο Saint Martins College of Art στο Λονδίνο. Συνέχισα τα μαθήματα ελεύθερου σχεδίου στην Ιταλία, με τη Γερμανίδα καθηγήτρια Petra Meyer.
Έκανα αρκετές εκθέσεις ζωγραφικής ομαδικές και δύο εκθέσεις προσωπικές. Παράλληλα, έκανα πέντε εκθέσεις χρυσού κοσμήματος.
Στις Βρυξέλλες, άρχισα να παρακολουθώ κεραμική, που την αγάπησα πολύ.
Το 2002 άνοιξα την γκαλερί σύγχρονης τέχνης Millefiori Art Space στο Κολωνάκι. Άρχισα παράλληλα να φοιτώ στο Κέντρο Μελέτης Νεώτερης Κεραμεικής στην Αθήνα, κι έπειτα στη σχολή του Μένανδρου Παπαδόπουλου, όπου παρακολούθησα μαθήματα κεραμικής. Εξέθετα τα κεραμικά μου στον χώρο μου για αρκετά χρόνια.
Από το 2020 ασχολούμαι με την κεραμική μου, εκθέτοντας σε χώρους της Αθήνας, όπως στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών, στην γκαλερί Artworx στην Κηφισιά, στην γκαλερί Σκουφά στο Κολωνάκι, στο TWO’s στην Πάρο, και τελευταία στο Μουσείο της Πόλεως των Αθηνών, σε ομαδική έκθεση.
Στην κεραμική της Νίκης βρίσκουν γόνιμο πεδίο τόσο οι ελληνικές όσο και οι αφρικανικές επιρροές της. Χρησιμοποιώντας επιδέξιες πινελιές και ζωηρά χρώματα συνδυάζει τους φοίνικες, το τοπίο και τα άγρια ζώα της σαβάνας με παραδοσιακά ελληνικά μοτίβα, σύμβολα και αντικείμενα.
