On Sunday, August 25, 2024, Animal Welfare Karpathos organized an elegant evening celebrating the artistic creativity of our island (Karpathos). We gathered in the welcoming atmosphere of Althea Boutique Hotel in Ammoopi to admire a collection of works by Karpathian artists, all graciously donated for our organization’s first art raffle (and surely to be repeated by popular demand!). The art raffle proceeds will benefit the stray animals AWK helps through its animal welfare programs on the island.
The exhibition showcased an array of paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and creations in wood and other materials, complemented by a selection of wine and assorted treats.
In keeping with our belief that raising awareness of animal welfare issues should be accompanied by a broader positive contribution to the community, we aimed to highlight the often-overlooked but rich artistic production of our island through this raffle.
The response from the artists was both warm and moving; within a few days, a remarkable collection of significant artistic and commercial value was gathered, surpassing our expectations, with some artists creating special works for us with great love and sensitivity.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each artist involved: George Katogiritis, Manos Anastasiadis, Niki Protopapa, Sofia Papakosta, Deanne Alexander, Minas Vlachos, Andreas Koustas, Manolis Kontonikolas (Vyzantas), Yiannis Chatzivasilis, Paris Christodoulou, Popi Hatzidakis, Panagiotis Aneziris, Giorgos Kostetsos, Renate Mattsson, and Efi Ioannidou-Papoutsaki.
